Belonging to Presque Isle Bassmasters.....

Bass fishing has undergone an unbelievable boom in the past few years.  Fishing tournaments have become popular on both the national and local level because of the excitement and competition they provide. Although there are many different levels of fisherman represented in  bass fishing clubs, one thing is for sure, we all want to become better at the sport we enjoy.  No matter what stage of the game you find yourself, there is always something to be shared or learned.

Our next tournament will be May 19th at Chautaqua Lake, this will be a new style of tournament for us, it will be a paper tournament. This means no fish will be kept and weighed, you will measure them length and girth, record those measurements for your 5 largest fish and present them to Benny at the end of the day to be tabulated and the winner determined. The first paper tournament at Findlay was a success, this one should be really fun since they should be spawning!!

To make this tournament work correctly, it will be a DRAW tournament. The way this works is simple.

  • All members wanting to fish this tournament must show up for a pre tournament meeting at Gander Mountain Friday May 18th at 6 PM.

  • We will determine the number of contestants available to fish and determine who will go as a boater and who goes as a non-boater .

  • Boater has control of the boat for the entire day. If we get reports that any boater is purposefully “frontending” an non boater, the officers have the right to penalize the boater by deducting points, so to the boaters.. be courteous..

  • Any boater or non boater who commits to fishing the tournament but does not show up on tournament day will be fined up to 50 club points, and are not eligible to be used as a drop.

  • The club will supply the measuring tapes for each boat as well as the card for recording your catch. Only fish over the state minimum of 12 inches are eligible. You will submit the measurements of the 5 largest fish for the prize fund.

  • Please handle your catch with care, have your partner verify the measurement and that is it, it will be fun!!!!

Anyone wanting to fish the Pennsylvania State Team tournament that will be held June 23rd and 24th  need to contact Bob Clark  immediately!  So far no one has stepped up and paid up, so….if we want to field a team we must do it NOW.

***To fish this tournament you will need to belong to The PA Bass Federation Inc. $45, as well as the TBF The National Bass Federation $15,  and be a FLW Outdoors Member $25, for a grand total of $85 plus the cost of the tournament which is $500 per 6 man team or $85 per guy, for a grand total of $170 to fish the tournament.

That’s all for now, see you on the water!!
